Biography 

Zivan Zabar was born in Hadera, Israel, in 1939. He received the B.Sc., M.Sc., and Sc.D. degrees from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in 1965, 1968, and 1972, respectively. He is currently Professor of Electrical Engineering at the Polytechnic Institute of NYU in Brooklyn, NY. His areas of interest are linear propulsion, electrical power conversion systems, and power electronics. He has six patents and more than 50 papers published in technical journals. He is a member of Sigma Xi. His research activities encompass a wide range of applications for power electronics, electric drives, and power systems in general.


Research Interests

Exploratory research on novel schemes for electromagnetic launchers
Analysis and development of an area substation load model to include the effect of harmonics
Study, design and construction of a battery charger.
