professor of philosophy of
science in the Department
of Technology, Culture and Society in NYU's Tandon
School of Engineering, with an affiliation in NYU's Department
of Philosophy. I received my PhD from the History
and Philosophy of Science Department at the University
of Pittsburgh. My research interests include foundations of
physics, philosophy of spacetime, scientific realism, and
philosophy of quantum field theory.More specifically, I'm interested in the ontological and metaphysical commitments of theories in contemporary physics; in other words, in how such theories can be interpreted. I'm also interested in the epistemological status of the claims such theories make about the physical world. These interests span the subject areas of philosophy of spacetime and philosophy of quantum theory, as well as the emerging discussion on philosophy of quantum gravity, and link up with issues in the debate over scientific realism.
